INTERFACE WITH INDUSTRY
This Work Package aims to establish the collaboration between industry (through the European Manufacturers Group) and partner public health institutes that underpin the technical objectives of this proposal. There are a number of vaccine manufacturers in Europe (Chiron, Solvay, Baxter, Aventis Pasteur) who manufacture seasonal influenza vaccines. Each have their own production methods in eggs and are developing cell culture methods. This collaboration aims to work closely with industry partners, to use their protocols for master seed stock production (whilst maintaining confidentiality between each company and the public partners), and to negotiate with the industry on production of clinical trials batches for Work Package 7. The public partners will release master seed stocks and provide the results of animal experiments to industry, provide sites and investigators for clinical trials of mock-up vaccines and plan and conduct such trials in collaboration with the industry. This Work Package also aims to instigate and liaise with the European Medicines Evaluation Agency (EMEA) on the requirements and fulfillment of the Pandemic Influenza Core Dossier by the public partner institutes and industry collaborators.
